Ten Months in the Life of a Specialty Finance Business Manager  

 

As most of you know, last September we started a specialty financing department that focuses entirely on non-prime loans.  The need for this department came from the fact that 35% of buyer's credit scores fall under 679.

The specialty financing department includes three business managers and two business administrators that strictly work  with credit challenged customers (the average non-prime credit score is in the mid-500's).  In order to help customers, the professionals in this department have to utilize special communication skills; listen to the customer, lend a sympathetic ear and offer their understanding of their customer's specific credit situation.  Additionally, they often need to speak with the lenders' underwriters directly, prepare their customers on the lenders' unique guidelines and rehash deals, if need be.
